The Presentation Sisterhood is a small monastic community in the far south of NSW on the banks of the Snowy River. The Cabramatta Parish has supported this community since it was founded in 1999 and continues to do so via annual fundraising initiatives. A lot of building have already been constructed and this year we are fundraising specifically for the commercial kitchen that needs to be built inside the trapeza.
On Sunday 5 June 2022 there will be a fundraising dinner in the Strathfield Cathedral Church hall.
A poster can be found here.
This will be the first event of its type since 2019. In 2020 and 2021 there were Covid safe events with limited numbers present. After the success in 2021 of live streaming the sermon by Bishop Siluan inside Cabramatta Church, the concept will be repeated in 2022. The Sydney Russian Orthodox Chamber Choir will stand on the Ambo steps of the Strathfield Cathedral to perform a series of masterpieces of Russian sacred music. A. Laptev will direct works by Chesnokoff, Kedroff, Bortniansky and several others. This choir performance will be live streamed on the Strathfield Church YouTube channel so that people from all over Sydney, Australia and even the world can view it. Noting that it is a fundraiser initiative, donations are sought from people who will be watching the live stream.
The live stream will commence at 5.25pm with the choir to start performing at 5.30pm.
A dinner will then be served inside the Church hall where guests will be able to participate in further fundraising activities. Cost is $60 per head ($50 for pensioners and students) for concert and dinner. Seating is at tables of 8 and most tables have already been booked. Childminding (creche) will be set up in the Russian school and is available for $15 per child. There are also concert only tickets for $20. Please be seated inside the Church at 5.15pm
